Your computer should include the following:
Basic Computer Requirements as of December 2024:
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit versions
Note that Apple computers, iPads, Chromebooks, Android tablets, and Microsoft Surface RT are not compatible with our clients. However, Apple laptops or desktops can be used for training but support is limited. Also mobile devices including phones and tablets are compatible with HireVue but cannot be used for training, and it is strongly recommended not to use them for HireVue either as they make the games section difficult to complete.
- A browser that supports NTI training: Microsoft Edge, Chrome, or Firefox only. Employer partners may have different requirements depending on the job.
- A way to hear and provide audio during the HireVue video assessment and NTI training classes. Ideally, this will be a USB headset, but any microphone and speaker combination is acceptable, provided background noise is avoided.
Further hardware requirements vary by position but usually are along these lines:
- Minimum 60 GB free disk space
- Minimum 8 GB RAM
- 2.0 GHz Dual-Core or higher processor (the more cores the better - a computer with 4, 6, 8 or more cores with a speed below 2.0GHz can be accepted)
- Monitor with a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 (1280x1024 recommended)
- Anti-virus/security suite installed and up-to-date or Windows Defender and Firewall turned on
- Keyboard & Mouse (preferably wired)
- A note on All-In-One Computers: Some of our employers will accept All-In-One Computers, while others will not. Be sure to check the Home Office/Computer requirements section of the Job Description.
Internet Connection:
Subscription to a reliable, high-speed, hard-wired, bi-directional Internet connection. DSL, FIOS or cable with bi-directional speeds (No satellite or wireless Internet service):
- 20 Mbps download (or greater, preferred)
- 5 Mbps upload (or greater, preferred)
You can test your internet speeds at www.speedtest.net
Software Requirements:
- Microsoft Office or Office 365 (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Acrobat Reader to read PDF documents
Telephone: (varies by position, many positions no longer need a landline)
- Landline dedicated to work during the day. Some jobs may accept certain Voice over IP (Internet-connected) telephone services. Others may require a regular copper-wire landline.
- Unlimited long-distance is required for some positions.
- 2nd phone line may be required if other people in the house need to use the phone during your work hours or in case of emergency.
- Corded telephone with corded headset.
- Wired USB Headset with a mute feature as well as a microphone with noise-canceling
Once you begin to apply for jobs, you'll see that each job has its own requirements. Some employers require you to have a separate room with a door, but many will just want a quiet, distraction-free space.
